Government guidelines for Estate Agents and Home Movers

A Covid-19 update for our customers in Bromley and the South-East.

Here is a an update or our interpreatration of the Governments report issued yesterday for those thinking of selling or letting in Bromley and the South-East.

The UK Government’s plan to steer England through the Covid-19 storm was released yesterday around 2 pm. We’ve read through it and here’s our understanding of how it will continue to suspend sellers, buyers, landlords and tenants. While factories and building sites can re-open if they follow the social distancing regulations, estate agency offices cannot. Not for now anyway.

We think we’ll be able to re-open our offices during the first week of June and return to accompanied viewings / valuations by observing social distancing and providing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including face masks, gloves and shoe coverings. We're constantly adjusting preparations for when we are given the green light.

We're all still working hard behind the scenes at home. None of the Edward Ashdale team have been furloughed. We have introduced video and 360 degrees photographic tours of property, whilst valuing properties to let and for sale via video. Something new and fun for both the customer and the agent. We have worked on the protocol for cleaning the office. Made arrangements so it is safe for a few team members to return when restrictions are eased. Introduced new technical systems to ensure a more fluid, safer experience and we feel ready for when there is a relaxation of the lockdown to help people move again.

Whilst it is frustrating that we can’t do the job we love in the way we love doing it, the health of our community, the nation and our loved ones is more important. This a constantly changing situation and potentially confusing so we are playing it by ear, trying to be as pro-active and responsive as possible.

When we hear any official updates, which affect our clients or the property market in Bromley and around the South-East we’ll aim to communicate quickly.
